Geographically and in terms of climate, Bulgaria features notable diversity with the landscape ranging from the Alpine snow-capped peaks in Rila, Pirin and the Balkan Mountains to the mild and sunny Black Sea coast.
Bulgaria, is a country with a historical and cultural heritage, and attractive natural landscapes, and is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Europe. In 2006 the country hosted an estimated 6 million foreign tourists, in 2007, that number was increased to 7-8 million.
Winter tourist centres, such as Borovets, Bansko, Pamporovo and Vitosha are picturesque and popular ski resorts. While the Bulgarian summer resorts along the Black Sea coast, include destinations, such as the summer resorts: Sozopol, Nessebar, Golden Sands, Sunny Beach, Albena and St. Constantine & Helena.
Beach-resorts attract tourists from Germany, Russia, Scandinavia, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The ski-resorts have become a favourite destination for British and Irish tourists.
